2. Recognition and reward go a lot further a lot faster then discipline. I, personally, respond to positive reinforcement better than negative reinforcement.
3. Give People REAL responsibility. 
4. If you fight for your employees they will fight for you. 
5.  Building Trust and confidence in order win their hearts.
However to bridge the gaps between the departments here's how you can use a simple communication tool, such as an internal company blog, to make things better:

Open transparent, two-way communication channel within the company.
